The City of Johannesburg, through its entities and departments responsible for by-law enforcement (City Power, JPC, Development Planning and JMPD), removed a total of six illegal outdoor advertising structures in Randburg on Tuesday. Three of the removed billboards belonged to repeat offenders who continue to violate the City’s Outdoor Advertising By-laws.
Speaking during the operation, the Chief Executive Officer of the Joburg Property Company, Musah Makhunga, expressed disappointment at companies that continue to disregard the City’s regulations despite ongoing enforcement efforts.
“The City of Johannesburg remains committed to enforcing its by-laws and ensuring compliance within the outdoor advertising sector. It is concerning that some companies continue to illegally erect advertising structures and make unlawful connections to public infrastructure while generating profit without contributing financially to the City,” said Makhunga.
