The Cambridge

In continuing its efforts to manage and develop the City of Johannesburg’s diverse property portfolio, JPC has been driving quite a few projects. Part of this development drive is to maximise the city’s social, economic and financial value through property, while facilitating positive transformation.

One of its projects is the The Cambridge residential development by Balwin Properties, located in Bryanston at the Cambridge Road and Rembrandt Street intersection, which has succeeded in creating jobs for Bryanston locals.

“Job creation is key to our transformation agenda, so we have to ensure that there are opportunities for employment and empowerment of SMMEs in areas where JPC is facilitating property development projects,” says JPC CEO Helen Botes.

The upmarket estate comprises 440 sectional title apartments that offer top-notch design, quality and real value for money in one of Johannesburg’s top suburbs. The secure complex also boasts a lifestyle centre, boutique gym, restaurant and swimming pool, making it the ideal base for young professionals, young couples starting a family, investors and couples looking to scale down.

Construction started in 2015 and is planned for seven phases. Three of the seven phases were completed in September, while phases four and five are due to be handed over in November. Units range from R840 900 for a one-bedroom, one-bathroom unit to R1 480 900 for a two-bedroom, two-bathroom unit and R1 577 900 for a three-bedroom unit.

In true Balwin Properties’ fashion, The Cambridge focuses on trendy apartment lifestyle living that is environmentally conscious. The complex has also been designed with the occupants’ well-being in mind.

Each apartment is Wi-Fi enabled and comes with free appliances including a washing machine, tumble dryer, fridge and dishwasher, along with prepaid water, gas and electricity.

The on-site lifestyle centre has free Wi-Fi and the swimming pool caters for the complex’s youngest residents with a specially designated section for children. Residents can get fit and stay in shape at the complex’s Training Science gym, which has an in-house trainer. And meal times are convenient thanks to the complex’s Amici restaurant and pizzeria. For added security the complex is fitted with a CCTV camera system and has 24-hour armed response.

Constructed in association with the Green Building Council of South Africa (GBCSA), The Cambridge, like so many green buildings, is the way of the future. Green buildings address the environmental and sustainability issues facing society. According to the GBCSA, green building incorporates design, construction and operational practices that significantly reduce or eliminate the negative impact of development on the environment and people. Green buildings are energy efficient, resource efficient and environmentally responsible.

JPC 4Also, thanks to their lower operating costs, they are future-proof and provide a higher rate of return. Their facilitation of a healthier living environment for residents have been shown to promote wellness, healing and productivity.
