Notice to Traders In respect of COVID-19

Please take notice that in terms of regulation 11B (4) of Government Gazette No 11062 of 25 March 2020, (The Regulations) all places or premises provided for in Annexure D, thereof, must be closed to the public, except to those persons rendering security and maintenance services, at those places or premises.

Annexure D (c) (ii) and xv of the Regulations close flea markets, taxi ranks and bus depots from 26 March 2020, at 12h00 until 16 April 2020, at 24h00 or a date the responsible Minister will determine.

Regulation 11B (4) must be read with Direction 6.5.2 (a) (vi) of the COGTA COVID-19 Disaster Response Directions, 2020, which direct the immediate closure of all public places, including, all markets and street vending.

Accordingly, the taxi ranks and trading stalls, which serve as flea markets are closed.

Be pleased to take further Notice that the DED will be undertaking deep cleaning of the streets and trading stalls mentioned below, during the lockdown announced on 23 March 2020, by the President of the Republic of South Africa:-

Jeppe and Bree: From Eloff to Troy Street; Plein: From Eloff to Edith Carvel Street; De Villiers: From Rissik to Nugget; Noord: Hoek to Nugget; King George: Plein to Noord; Delvers: Bree to Pritchard; Kerk: Harrison to Von Brandis; Edith Carvel: Plein to Bree; Wanderers: De Villiers to Wolmarans; Klein: Wolmarans to Bok; Watt Street: Alexandra and Baragwanath.

For your general safety, security and health, evacuate the streets and trading stalls and secure all your belongings, for the cleaning process to be a success. This is a temporary measure to help curb the continued spread of the coronavirus and to safeguard both yourselves, your clients and CoJ residents at large.

The CoJ and any of its officials will not be held liable, for anything carried out in good faith, in terms of this Notice and applicable legislation and regulations.
